MAGAZINE CAPSTONE
For my senior capstone myself and three others created a life-style/art and fashion magazine. We call ot the COSMOpolitan, named after the beloved Cosmopolitan with an emphasis on Cosmo, because we are BYU!
I started this project because I wanted to create a space where creativity can push the boundaries of the program I am in. I wanted to create a life-style magazine that highlights the seemingly mundane and the extraordinary works that are within Provo and Utah County. This project is heavily influenced and inspired by Vogue, Vanity Fair, TMRW Magazine and may other great works of art. Attached is one of the many articles inside the COSMOpolitan, and one that I am most proud of. All writing and photography is original.
Final Project
This final project for my video reporting class was a wonderful and lesson-filled experience.
Judy Brummer is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from South Africa. This video tells her story and her mission of helping people “change their spots”.
During this process, I used 3 different cameras, interviewed 3 people, had over 4 hours of footage cut down into 3 and a half minutes, had to do 4 re-shoots, and used about 2 tanks of gas with over 4 hours of driving. It was hard, but I did it.
I absolutely loved this project. I think my most improved skill from it was my interviewing abilities. I really prioritized getting deeper with my guests and getting underneath the surface. I wanted them to learn things about themselves that they didn’t even know yet.
I hope you enjoy getting to know Judy as much as I did!
2024 Election Broadcast
This election cycle I had the opportunity to help produce and anchor a special broadcast for the packages made by the video reporting students in Washington D.C.
Director Reel
This is my Director Reel from my time as The Daily Universe’s technical director. This submission earned me an honorable mention for student director and an invitation to The Gracies: Women in Media award ceremony in New York City.
More
My contribution to this broadcast won the “News Program” award at The Gracies ceremony in 2024.
Trip to Atlanta, Georgia
This article showcases my experience traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to witness the combined voices of the Tabernacle choir and the Glee Clubs of Spelman and Morehouse College at the Morehouse Martin Luther King Jr. International Chappell. There, I interviewed members of the choirs, attendees of the event, and the Dean of the Chappell. This article was published in The Daily Universe magazine where investigative stories are put out.
